Bill Mazeroski<\/span><\/span>, Hall of Fame second baseman, died Friday at 89.<\/p>\n

He hit baseball\u2019s first World Series walk-off home run<\/strong>, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/span><\/span> a 10\u20139 Game 7 win<\/strong> over the New York Yankees<\/span><\/span> in 1960<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Known for elite defense, Mazeroski won 8 Gold Gloves<\/strong> and was later inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame<\/span><\/span>. The Pirates called him a beloved legend and 7-time All-Star<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Born Sept 5, 1936, in Wheeling, West Virginia<\/span><\/span>, he debuted in 1956<\/strong> and spent 17 seasons<\/strong> with Pittsburgh. One of the best defensive second basemen in Major League Baseball<\/span><\/span> history, he was known for quick reflexes and turning double plays.<\/p>\n

His Oct 13, 1960<\/strong> homer at Forbes Field<\/span><\/span> remains the only Game 7 walk-off HR in World Series history<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Mazeroski was a 10-time All-Star<\/strong>, helped the Pirates win World Series titles in 1960 and 1971<\/strong>, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001<\/strong>. \u26be<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
