My mother-in-law Monica always took over our bedroom during visits, ignoring boundaries and treating the room like hers. Even after I prepared the guest room, she smirked and claimed our bed again because the guest room had \u201ctoo much sun.\u201d<\/p>\n

This time, though, I had a plan.<\/p>\n

I stayed calm through dinner while she criticized everything, confusing my husband Jake. The next morning, Monica came into the kitchen completely mortified and quietly asked to move into the guest room.<\/p>\n

Turns out, before they arrived, I had filled our bedroom and bathroom with very personal items\u2014lingerie, massage oils, adult toys, leather accessories, and suggestive TV titles. Nothing obvious at first glance, but impossible to miss once you looked around.<\/p>\n

Jake was shocked when I told him, but couldn\u2019t stop laughing.<\/p>\n

For the rest of the visit, Monica stayed far away from our bedroom. By Christmas, they had already booked a hotel instead.<\/p>\n
