The T-shirt is one of the world\u2019s most common clothing items, but many people do not know how it got its name. It is called a \u201cT-shirt\u201d because, when laid flat, its shape looks like the capital letter \u201cT.\u201d<\/p>\n

T-shirts first appeared in the early 1900s as undershirts. The United States Navy gave sailors lightweight cotton shirts because they were comfortable and easy to clean. At first, wearing them alone in public was uncommon.<\/p>\n

Later, workers and farmers began wearing T-shirts by themselves because they were practical in hot weather. In the 1950s, actors like Marlon Brando<\/span><\/span> and James Dean<\/span><\/span> made plain white T-shirts fashionable and rebellious.<\/p>\n

By the 1960s, T-shirts became a way for people to express themselves through slogans, logos, and artwork. Today, they are popular worldwide because they are comfortable, affordable, and stylish.
