When widowed Professor Bennett’s childcare fell through, he brought his six-month-old daughter to class and finished teaching with her in his arms. A student’s video of the moment went viral. The next morning, his desk was empty, and we feared the university had suspended him.

When he returned the following semester, his daughter had a daycare place and he had a lighter schedule. We knew he was back the moment we saw his familiar leather bag beside the desk.
