I\u2019ve been in a fog since Sunday and need to vent. My husband, John, and I have been together for eight years, married for five, and have a one-year-old son, Lucas.<\/p>\n
John\u2019s been spending a lot of time at his brother Clarke’s house lately, helping with repairs or \u201cfamily traditions,\u201d he claimed. This became a routine, with John leaving around dinnertime, often returning late. I didn’t think much of it until last Sunday when Laurel, my sister-in-law, called and revealed John was mostly just eating dinner at their place every day, costing them a lot. She asked us to contribute $150 for groceries.<\/p>\n
I was shocked. John had never mentioned this, and I was upset to learn it from Laurel. When I confronted John, he admitted he missed the “comfort food” he used to have. It hurt that he hadn\u2019t been honest with me. We agreed to pay for the groceries, and I promised to try making some hearty meals he missed, but healthier.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve since worked through things, and I\u2019ve been blending comfort food with healthy meals. John still visits Clarke, but with my knowledge. We even invited Clarke and Laurel over for dinner to thank them. The situation was awkward at first, but we ended on good terms.<\/p>\n
