She used her savings and part of her dad\u2019s inheritance to send me on the coastal trip I\u2019d always dreamt about. She told me I wasn\u2019t just a stepmom \u2014 I was her mom by choice.<\/p>\n

We laughed when she admitted locking me out, and I asked for two weeks off. At the airport she packed my suitcase, told me dessert came first, and said, \u201cYou\u2019re not my stepmom.
