The young salesman mocked my muddy boots and assumed I couldn\u2019t afford the $90,000 F-350. When I asked how many they had, he laughed and tried to push me out.<\/p>\n

So I wrote a check\u2014for $900,000.<\/p>\n

He went pale when he saw the company name: Morrison Construction. I was buying ten trucks. The general manager rushed out, apologized, and finalized the deal.<\/p>\n

While signing, I overheard the kid, Kevin, on the phone with his mom\u2014worried about medical bills and losing his job. I remembered being judged the same way years ago when a banker laughed at my work clothes.<\/p>\n
