My Sister Kicked Me Out of the House After Our Father’s Death — But She Didn’t Know He Had Foreseen It

I always knew my sister Charlotte didn’t care about me, but I never expected her to kick me out after our father’s funeral.

For as long as I can remember, it was just Dad and me. Charlotte, 35, was rarely home, always off chasing something bigger. I, at 17, was Dad’s shadow, always helping him around the house.

When Dad died, everything changed. Two weeks later, in the lawyer’s office, Charlotte barely reacted as the will was read. The house went to her, and I got Dad’s old, worn watch.

A few days later, I came home to find all my belongings packed. Charlotte told me to leave, saying I wasn’t her problem. Desperate, I called the lawyer. To my surprise, he told me Dad had left me a large inheritance and had anticipated Charlotte’s actions. The money was tied to a condition—Charlotte had to share the house with me, or she would get nothing.

Dad had also left me a letter, revealing a code on the back of his watch that opened a safe deposit box with almost two million dollars.

Charlotte called, desperate for money to cover the house’s debt. But I didn’t feel bad. She’d kicked me out, after all.

With the lawyer’s help, I found a small apartment. A few weeks later, I passed by the house and saw a “SOLD” sign. It wasn’t home anymore, but at least I knew Dad was still looking out for me.
