Before I could speak, he raised his hands and calmly explained that he had noticed a large branch blocking the sidewalk ahead. Worried she might trip or step into traffic to avoid it, he parked his car and followed at a distance to make sure she got home safely.
Relieved, I thanked him for looking out for her. The experience reminded me how quickly fear can shape assumptions—but sometimes, strangers act out of simple kindness.
