Place a Balloon Over Your Shower Drain and See the Surprising Result

Cockroaches often enter bathrooms through the shower drain because they’re attracted to warm, damp places. Even with regular cleaning, these pests can travel through plumbing and sneak inside.

One simple trick many homeowners use is a regular party balloon.

First, remove the shower drain cover. Cut off both ends of a balloon so it becomes a stretchy tube. Slide the balloon over the drain cover so it fits tightly, then place the cover back into the drain.

The stretched balloon helps create a tighter seal around the openings. Water can still drain normally, but the smaller gaps make it much harder for cockroaches and other insects to crawl through.

For best results, keep the bathroom dry, clean the drain regularly, and seal any cracks around pipes or tiles. Small steps like these can help keep pests out and make your bathroom more comfortable.

Sometimes the simplest household items provide surprisingly useful solutions.
