For my wife’s birthday, I bought her a special edition of Titanic. Our 3-year-old saw it and asked to watch it. I said it was a “grown-up movie.”
At nursery, he proudly told everyone, “Mommy and Daddy are watching a grown-up movie tonight!” The teachers misunderstood and were trying not to laugh when I picked him up.
After I explained, everyone burst out laughing—and I did too, embarrassed but amused.
That night, as we watched the movie, I realized how innocent and literal kids are. To him, it just meant something special for adults.
Moments like these are unplanned—but unforgettable.
