Eden returns home after two years, still grieving her mother who died of breast cancer when she was 15. Her stepmother, Sandra, seemed kind at first but soon began removing her mother’s belongings, which made Eden feel like she was erasing her memory. Hurt and angry, Eden left for college and stayed away.
During a visit home, Eden goes to her mother’s grave and is shocked to find Sandra there. Thinking she’s doing something wrong, Eden confronts her—but discovers Sandra is planting her mother’s favorite flowers, leaving photos, and caring for the grave regularly.
Sandra reveals she never wanted to replace Eden’s mom; she was honoring her. She had removed the belongings because it was the mother’s final wish, meant to help the family heal. She also regularly visited the grave to keep her memory alive.
Realizing the truth, Eden understands Sandra’s intentions and begins to see her differently. She returns home, reconnects with her family, and, for the first time in a long while, feels at peace.
