I woke up on our first night as husband and wife to the bed shaking, my heart racing in the dark. Confused, I turned over—only to find my new husband kneeling beside the bed, half-asleep, trying to fix it.
After our exhausting but beautiful wedding day, we had collapsed into bed without noticing one side was uneven. Every movement made it wobble and squeak. While I slept, he decided it had to be fixed immediately.
When he saw me watching, he froze and whispered, “I didn’t want our first night to be… squeaky.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, and he joined in. In that small, awkward moment, everything felt warm and real.
It wasn’t a perfect, movie-like wedding night—but it showed what marriage really is: caring about small things, even when you’re exhausted, and finding joy in imperfect moments together.
