Beloved pizza chain s closes all US locations and files for bankruptcy after 50 years

Gina Maria’s Pizza, a longtime Minnesota favorite, shut its doors without warning after filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy with nearly $3 million in debt. Loyal customers arrived to find dark windows and “closed” signs where decades of memories once lived.

For generations, the restaurant was more than pizza — it was Friday nights, family gatherings, and community tradition. Now, its ovens and equipment will be sold as part of liquidation, marking the end of an era.

But there’s a small spark of hope. A new spot, Pizzas Gina, has opened in Eden Prairie using the original recipes, showing how local businesses may still keep community traditions alive even as major chains struggle.
