Bathing should refresh you—not harm your skin. Washing too often, especially with hot water or harsh soaps, strips natural oils, leading to dryness, irritation, and a weakened skin barrier. It can also disrupt beneficial bacteria that help protect against infections.
For older adults or sensitive skin, gentler habits matter: use mild, fragrance-free cleansers, keep water warm (not hot), and take shorter showers. Daily bathing isn’t always needed—every 2–3 days is often enough. Finish with a moisturizer to keep skin soft and protected.
