Gyan Mudra (also called Jnana Mudra) is a simple yet powerful hand gesture used in yoga, Buddhist, and Hindu traditions for thousands of years.
To practice it, touch the tip of your thumb and index finger together, forming a circle, while keeping the other three fingers extended and palms facing upward. Rest your hands on your knees or thighs.
“Gyan” means knowledge, and this mudra symbolizes the connection between individual and universal consciousness. It’s commonly used during meditation to improve focus, clarity, and inner stability.
Practicing for 10–30 minutes, especially early in the morning, may help enhance concentration, reduce stress, improve sleep, and support overall mental well-being.
While often linked to physical and therapeutic benefits, its main purpose is to calm the mind and deepen awareness.
