It started as a small itch and a few red patches on my husband’s skin. We assumed it was allergies or eczema and tried creams and antihistamines, but the itching kept getting worse and left him exhausted. When doctors finally ran blood tests, everything changed — they diagnosed him with blood cancer. In rare cases, persistent itching can be an early symptom of cancers like lymphoma.
Our lives quickly became filled with hospital visits, chemotherapy, scans, and fear. Despite the pain and exhaustion, my husband stayed strong and kind throughout treatment. I still regret not taking the symptoms more seriously sooner, even though doctors said earlier testing likely wouldn’t have changed much.
The experience taught us how easily serious illness can hide behind ordinary symptoms and how important it is to listen when the body keeps signaling that something is wrong. Now, we try to live with gratitude, appreciating every peaceful, healthy day together
