A New Hampshire mother was shocked when the state ordered her to surrender a vanity license plate she had displayed for 15 years.
Wendy Auger’s plate, “PB4WEGO,” stood for the common family phrase “pee before we go” and had brought smiles to many parents over the years. But the DMV later ruled it violated rules against references to bodily functions and demanded she give it up.
The decision sparked debate, with many arguing the phrase was harmless humor, while others defended the state’s right to enforce vanity plate standards.
After the story gained national attention, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu stepped in and allowed Auger to keep her license plate.
