A devastating fire tore through Millharbor’s historic Mariner’s Block after smoke was spotted rising from the McAllister Textiles Building. Within minutes, flames spread rapidly through the old timber structures, sending glass crashing onto streets and forcing residents and businesses to evacuate.
More than 100 firefighters battled the growing inferno as nearby buildings, including the Montague Furniture Depot, were consumed by flames and parts of the structures collapsed.
By nightfall, four buildings had been destroyed, leaving many families and business owners facing uncertainty. Though no lives were lost, the disaster left a lasting scar on the community.
Despite the destruction, Millharbor residents came together to support one another, proving that even after tragedy, resilience and hope can rise from the ashes.
