Mysterious Objects Found at Bottom of Village Lake Turn Out to Have a Simple Explanation

Residents of a small village were intrigued after unusual round objects were spotted in crater-like holes at the bottom of a clear artificial lake. From afar, they looked like strange eggs, sparking theories about rare species or unknown wildlife.

However, a closer look revealed the truth: they weren’t eggs at all—they were golf balls. A faint logo visible beneath the silt solved the mystery. The balls had likely been hit into the lake from a nearby golf course, where they sank, settled, and collected in small depressions over time. Golf balls commonly end up resting on lakebeds because they are denser than water and sink, often accumulating in ponds and water hazards.
