Europe is rapidly boosting its defence as Russia’s war in Ukraine continues and NATO warns of growing security threats. The EU is investing billions through initiatives like Readiness 2030 and ReArm Europe to strengthen military capabilities, improve infrastructure, and reduce reliance on the United States.
While Eastern European countries are expanding civil defence and border security, public support remains limited. A recent poll found 75% of respondents would not fight to defend the EU.
Despite record defence spending, experts warn that slow procurement and fragmented defence industries could delay progress. Europe is no longer debating whether to prepare—it is racing to determine whether it can do so in time.
