The secret of the business card
It was pouring rain. A woman was standing by the roadside, trying to stop a car, but no one would stop. She was already crying and said:
— Please… help me…
At that moment, a car stopped. From inside, a man said:
— Get in.
The woman quickly got in.
— Please, take me to the hospital urgently.
— Don’t worry, we’ll get there fast,— the man replied.
A few minutes later, they arrived. The woman hurried to get out, then suddenly stopped.
— I left my wallet at home… but please take this,— she said, handing him a business card,— as a thank you.
And she ran inside.
The man looked at the card… and froze.

He stared at the card in disbelief.
Printed on it was the name:
Dr. Elena Vardanyan – Maternity Surgeon
His hands began to shake.
Ten years ago, that same name had signed the papers on the night his newborn daughter was declared dead.
He jumped out of the car and ran inside the hospital.
The halls were crowded. Nurses rushed past him. Then he heard a baby crying from one of the delivery rooms.
A doctor stepped out.
“Congratulations,” she said with a smile. “Your wife gave birth to a healthy baby girl.”
He froze.
“My… wife?”
At that moment, the woman from the car appeared in the doorway, exhausted and smiling through tears.
She whispered:
“I never forgot you… and I never stopped looking.”
He could barely breathe.
“Elena…?”
She nodded.
“That night ten years ago… they lied to both of us. Our first daughter was stolen.”
The newborn cried again.
Elena placed the baby into his arms and said softly:
“But this time… they can’t take her.”
