Eva Marie Saint, Oscar-Winning Legend of Hollywoods Golden Age, Dies at 102

Hollywood has lost one of the last great legends of its Golden Age. Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint has died at her Los Angeles home at the age of 102, leaving behind a remarkable career spanning nearly nine decades.

Saint rose to fame with her film debut in On the Waterfront (1954), starring opposite Marlon Brando. Her performance earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She later became internationally known for her iconic role opposite Cary Grant in Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest (1959).

Her career also included acclaimed television work, earning a Primetime Emmy Award in 1990. Born in New Jersey in 1924, Saint balanced her successful career with family life and was married to director Jeffrey Hayden for 65 years.

Her passing marks the end of an extraordinary Hollywood era, but her performances and legacy will continue to be remembered for generations.
