Lucas had promised Gwen an equal partnership. Instead, after their triplets arrived, he retreated to the guest room while she handled feedings, diapers, and recovery from a painful C-section. Then he booked two weeks in Cabo, dismissing her exhaustion as hormones. His supposedly solo escape included friends, whom he had told Gwen wanted space and had help. When she learned what he had said, she decided to stop protecting his reputation.
Before his departure, Gwen replaced most of his resort clothes with parenting supplies, feeding logs, his fatherhood shirt, and a photograph recalling his public promises. She left an outfit and toiletries; the point was exposure, not stranding him. Lucas discovered everything in front of his friends and called, furious about the humiliation. Gwen reminded him that while he insisted he deserved time away, she deserved a partner. His embarrassment did not erase the work he had left her carrying.
