Bad news about King Charles

Major General Sir Christopher Airy, former private secretary to King Charles during his marriage to Princess Diana, died on April 7 at age 91. His wife had passed away three months earlier, and he is survived by a son and two daughters.

After a distinguished 35-year Army career, including roles such as commander of the Household Division and Assistant Chief of Staff of UK Land Forces, Airy became Charles’s private secretary and treasurer in 1990. Though respected and reportedly on good terms with Diana, he held the position for less than a year, reportedly resigning due to difficulty managing Charles’s many interests.

Educated at Marlborough and Sandhurst, Airy was commissioned into the Grenadier Guards and later rose to major general, eventually commanding the Household Division. He was named CBE in 1984 and knighted in 1989.
