When Elizabeth turned 80, she made a will to divide her assets among her three grandsons: Tom, Aidan, and Luke. Tom got her Miami penthouse, Aidan her house in Milford, and Luke the money in her accounts. Luke was upset, arguing that he was getting less than his brothers, leading to a heated argument. Tom and Aidan tried to calm him, but Elizabeth later changed the will, leaving Luke an antique chest instead.
Years later, Luke, now married with a daughter, Meredith, discovered that the chest contained gold bars and a key to a safety deposit box. At the bank, he learned his grandmother had stored even more gold and gemstones. Elizabeth’s lesson about entitlement had a lasting impact on Luke, who was now deeply regretful of his past behavior.
