A teenage Rhonda discovers she’s pregnant and is disowned by her wealthy, controlling father when she refuses to abort the baby. Her boyfriend also walks away, unwilling to take responsibility. Homeless and heavily pregnant, Rhonda goes into labor on the streets and is helped by kind airline executive Angela Bamford, who sends her to New York City to start anew. Overwhelmed and unsure she can care for her child, Rhonda abandons her newborn son “Matthew Harris” on a plane with a heartfelt note.
Thirteen years later, financially stable but filled with regret, Rhonda tracks down Matthew, now in NYC and adopted by the flight attendant who found him, Lincy, and her husband. Their reunion is tense—Matthew rejects calling her “mom” but agrees to weekend visits. Over the next decade, he forgives her and embraces her as his mother.
Now age 23 and working as a data scientist, Matthew supports Rhonda’s new relationship with colleague Andrew. Rhonda has also reconnected with Angela Bamford, thankful for how her life turned out.
