Brian teased his younger sister Linda when they arrived at their grandma Marlene’s house, where she had requested their urgent visit. Marlene, 90, was frail and ill, and as Linda entered, she saw the dusty, deteriorating home. Marlene handed them envelopes containing $5,000 each, but Brian, uninterested, walked away without gratitude.
The next day, Linda returned with an extra $4,000 and suggested using it for Marlene’s eye surgery. However, Marlene, sensing her end was near, rejected it, and Linda spent the money renovating Marlene’s cherished home instead.
Marlene passed away a week later, and when reading the will, Brian inherited the house, while Linda received five old clocks. Brian mocked her, but Linda discovered the clocks were worth $40,000 each, a precious gift from Marlene, who had known Linda deserved the best. Linda kept the secret, knowing her grandmother’s love was her true inheritance.
