An elderly gentleman had just picked up his shiny new Corvette convertible.

Feeling like a teenager again, he decided to see what the car was capable of. Once he hit the highway, he floored the accelerator—80 mph… then 90… the wind whipping through the few silver hairs left on his head. He was loving every moment!

But then, red and blue lights appeared in his rearview mirror. A state trooper was right behind him. Instead of slowing down, he panicked and pressed harder on the gas—100… 110… 120 mph! Suddenly, reality hit. “What am I doing? I’m a grandfather, not a getaway driver!” He eased off the gas and pulled over. The trooper walked up, shaking his head, and said, “Sir, my shift ends in thirty minutes, and it’s Friday. If you can give me one reason—just one—that I’ve never heard before for speeding, I’ll let you off with a warning.”

The old man laughed and replied, “Well, officer… years ago, my wife ran off with a state trooper. I thought you were here to bring her back.”
