On the morning of my wedding, my future shattered. Justin, my fiancé, told me my mom couldn’t attend, or he wouldn’t marry me. I was stunned. He explained that his family thought my mom, a cleaner, wasn’t “the right image” for the wedding. I was furious but agreed, knowing it was over.
At the venue, instead of walking down the aisle, I took the microphone and exposed his cruelty. I shared how my mom sacrificed everything for me, and that I couldn’t marry a man who’d shame her. I called off the wedding and walked out.
Justin bombarded me with calls, but I ignored them. His family tried damage control, but I wasn’t having it. When I got home, I told my mom I’d canceled the wedding, and she held me, relieved. She was the best thing that ever happened to me.
