Jack and his friend Bob went on a ski trip, but a sudden blizzard forced them to stop at a farm. A recently widowed woman answered the door and, worried about gossip, refused to let them stay in her house. Instead, Jack assured her they’d sleep in the barn, and she agreed.
The storm cleared by morning, and the two went on to enjoy their ski weekend. Months later, Jack received a letter from a lawyer—representing that same widow.
Confused, he went to Bob.
“Remember that widow we met?” Jack asked.
Bob nodded.
“Did you sneak out during the night and visit her?” Jack pressed.
Bob, embarrassed, admitted he had.
“And did you give her my name instead of yours?” Jack asked.
Bob turned red. “Yeah… I did. Sorry.”
Jack sighed. “Well, she just passed away—and left me everything.”
