When Richard visits his daughter Deidre to celebrate his 80th birthday, she answers the door in tears and tries to send him away. Suspicious, he looks through her window and sees two intimidating men demanding repayment of a $80,000 loan. Deidre pleads for more time, but the men ransack her home and leave with valuables. Richard, shocked, follows them to a gang hideout and confronts their leader, Mr. Marco.
Learning of Deidre’s massive debt, Richard offers his savings, but it’s not enough. Marco pressures him into smuggling goods across the border. On the way, Richard discovers contraband in the car, panics, and ends up crashing it into a river.
Richard decides to mortgage his house to pay Deidre’s debt. Together, they return to the gang’s hideout, but Marco is enraged over the lost shipment and threatens them. Police raid the club just in time, arresting Marco and his gang.
In the aftermath, Richard comforts Deidre, assuring her she’s not a failure and encouraging her to share her struggles in the future. Their bond strengthens as they resolve to rebuild their lives together.
