Authorities in southern Arizona confirmed that deputies found an abandoned gray Toyota Tacoma in a remote canyon about 30 miles north of the U.S.–Mexico border during expanded search efforts tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. The truck appeared deliberately concealed off a rugged dirt path, with disturbed gravel suggesting recent maneuvering.
The vehicle’s VIN identified its registered owner, though officials have not said whether it was registered to Nancy or an associate. Inside, forensic teams recovered a blister pack of cardiovascular medication consistent with Nancy’s prescriptions, now undergoing fingerprint, DNA, and distribution analysis.
Investigators also seized other unspecified “concerning” items and processed the vehicle for prints, fibers, and biological evidence before towing it for further examination. Search crews are sweeping the surrounding canyon for additional clues. No arrests have been made, and authorities say the discovery is significant but does not yet establish a timeline of events.
