I remember standing frozen in the hallway, gripping the wall, as Mom discovered Dad’s affair. A text from his mistress read, “Miss you. Last night was amazing. Can’t wait to see you again.” I had overheard Dad’s phone call a week before, confirming the affair. Confronting him, he begged me not to tell Mom, but a week later, she found the text and left, only to die in a car crash soon after.
Years passed, and after Mom’s death, Dad spiraled. I forgave him eventually, but when he remarried Diana, I thought we might be okay. Then, one night, I saw Dad sneaking out, and following him led me to a hotel where I saw him with another woman. I called Diana, and together we confronted him. Diana left him, and we moved out. Dad has since begged for forgiveness, but some mistakes can never be undone.
