“Tonight is crucial for my life,” Wade snapped. “My boss needs the house perfect. Are you listening, Dana?” I was used to his anger.
“Yes, I’ve made your boss’s favorite dish, it’s perfect,” I said, but he was distracted with his phone, making me suspicious.
“Not just the food! The house is a mess! Clean it!” Wade ordered, as usual. Our marriage was falling apart, but my family wouldn’t understand divorce.
I had consulted lawyers and was waiting for the right moment to give him the papers. For now, I played the dutiful wife.
When Wade’s boss, Jerry, and his wife, Alexandra, arrived, Alexandra requested a tour. Wade eagerly led her upstairs. I overheard them plotting and kissing—Wade was having an affair with her, and she was helping him get a promotion.
I faked cheerfulness and served dinner, but Wade’s phone held the proof I needed. I secretly took screenshots of his messages with Alexandra, planning to use them in court.
During a game of “Who Am I?” I put “My husband’s mistress” on Alexandra’s forehead. Wade’s face went pale, and Jerry was shocked. Wade tried to stop it, but I had made my point.
