I’m Natasha, and life with Emmet has been incredible. We’ve been together for three years, and when he proposed, it felt like the next step in our journey. A year ago, after my father passed, I inherited money, part of which he wanted to go toward my wedding. It was bittersweet, but Emmet was there for me through it all.
Three weeks ago, we announced our engagement to Emmet’s family. Then, out of nowhere, his brother Adam and his fiancée Nancy announced a wedding in two weeks. At their lavish dinner celebration, Nancy casually asked me to pay for their $3,000 meal, citing my inheritance. Shocked, I stood my ground, telling her it wasn’t our responsibility, which caused an uncomfortable scene. Later, it turned out that Adam and Nancy were trying to leverage our money.
Despite the fallout, Emmet and I stayed strong. Our wedding was beautiful, filled with love and support from those who truly cared for us. We funded it ourselves, using my inheritance, and celebrated surrounded by genuine happiness.
As the night ended, Nancy apologized for her behavior. I appreciated it, but I hoped the lesson was learned. Emmet and I embraced our new life, ready to face the future together.
